came to Manchester over 40 years ago, lived in Hulme for half of them, co-founded housing, workspace and building co-operatives there. wrote the Hulme Guide to Development to keep it an urban area after redevelopment. helped other communities redesign their places for a bit. But the greenest building is the one that already exists so set up a retrofit co-operative (reusing and refitting old buildings) now leading Your Home Better to scale that up. We've developed a standard for a zero carbon retrofit that is more within reach for more people than the top 10% but still working to get loan finance to make it universally accessible.
