Celebrating a year of #podcasting

On 4 January 2023, I completed a personal milestone – 1 year of #podcasting.

I launched my first season of the Meet the Mancunian podcast on 4 January 2022, on the same day as I started my interim stint with HMRC.  Over 4 seasons, meeting over 50 inspiring guests, and reaching listeners in 48 countries, I learnt some great life lessons. I am excited about what 2023 will teach me. (Note – I released a podcasting episode about it as a Christmas bonus which you can listen to here https://www.meetthemancunian.co.uk/meet-the-mancunian-christmas-special-5-things-my-podcast-taught-me/)

Lesson #one Learn the local culture: My first guest, Diana Bowden, introduced me to the Mancunian spirit in her own words – ‘We’re fierce and we will stand up”.

Lesson #two, play to your strengths. If you can't run a marathon, write poetry to fundraise. My guest, Anthony Parker, a school teacher and a poet, talks about fundraising for different homelessness charities through writing poetry for his twitter community.

Lesson #three. Together we do more. Risha Lancaster, Coffee4Craig talks about being part of the Homelessness Network and how that helps them serve the community better.

Lesson #4: Be quirky, be unashamedly you, and find your own angle. Timeline therapy from Katy Branagan, forest therapy from Natalie Rossiter and forest bathing from Gaynor Mullin.

Lesson #5: Life takes a squiggly path. I interviewed a postman who turned community worker, a receptionist who turned CEO and a security guard who became an artist.

I would also like to thank all my amazing guests who have trusted me with their story and life lessons. My friend Mahua Roy is the wonderful artist behind all the Meet the Mancunian podcast creatives for whose support I am very grateful.

I hope you've enjoyed listening to the Meet the Mancunian podcast. It's now in season four. There are lots of inspiring guests who featured on the podcast, and I hope the lessons they share, the challenges they've overcome and the passion they display really helps you and motivates you to follow your own dreams.

If the podcast has been of any help at all, please do reach out. I'd love to hear from you. You can do so on the Meet the Mancunian website, www.meetthemancunian.co.uk.
